The Grand Pavilion for Rehabilitation and Nursing at Rockville Center is looking for a talented and hard-working unit clerk to join our growing team.

The Grand Pavilion for Rehabilitation and Nursing at Rockville Center is a facility with 158 beds and is proud of its state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Gym servicing 60 short-term beds. 

Unit Clerk, Nursing Department

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide administrative support to the Nursing Unit. Unit clerks play an integral part in managing the flow of information in the Unit.

Unit Clerk Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. · High School diploma or minimum 2 years health care background preferred.

· Self Starter, team player, ability to follow directions.

· Strong oral and written communication skills required.

· Use proper telephone etiquette in a clear professional manner.

· Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment subject to multiple interruptions and hostile behavior.

· Is reliable for punctuality and attendance.

· Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

· Solid computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft programs.

Unit Clerk Functions:

· Schedule and arrange transportation for Resident clinic appointments.

· Obtain pre-authorization if required prior to clinic appointment; communicate with the insurance company providing additional information if needed.

· Communicate with resident’s family in regards to appointment and transportation.

· Greet and direct, visitors, patients, and staff members.

· Respond to inquiries, answer incoming calls, relay messages, and redirect calls to proper discipline.

· Assist patients by obtaining needed services from Nurses

· Maintain unit operations by following procedures. inventory unit supplies and request supplies as needed

· Fax Narcotic orders to Pharmacy

· Supply all units with residents list for upcoming visits from psychiatry and podiatry.

· Creates/maintains forms for Nursing Department.

· Work closely on a daily basis with Unit Managers filing documents.

· All other duties as assigned by the RN Manager, Director of Nursing, and Administrator

General/Physical and Sensory

· Attend in-services as required to maintain proficiency in mandatory topics.

· Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day and lift light items such as file boxes (20-30 lbs.).

· Must be able to speak and write English clearly and understandably.

· Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

· Must work independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to work effectively with residents’ other staff, and outside agencies/vendors.

· Must be able to exhibit sensitivity toward others who may be emotionally upset.

Salary $21 an hour
