SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, this person is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase specialty unduplicated patients, patient encounters, services, partnerships and broaden the reach and reputation of the health center. The Director of Business Development will also be responsible for tracking, documenting, and reporting on development goals and efforts. The Director of Business Development will demonstrate return on investments spent procuring partnerships and use sound business acumen for decision-making based on returns as well as trends, best practices, economic and political climate impacts. The ideal candidate should have exceptional leadership and management skills, effective communication and negotiation skills, and strong judgment ability.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate to advance the Strategic Plan forward; make adjustments where necessary.
- Develop and implement strategies based on the Strategic Plan to position the organization for territorial and service expansion.
- Communicate developments to leadership following Chief Executive Officer's (CEO) approval to seek greater understanding of CareSouth Medical and Dental's (CSMD's) current functions and capabilities to ensure positive negotiations.
- Seek partnerships with community leaders and organizations to increase referral base and community engagement opportunities.
- Assess benefit and risk analysis of partnerships and devise plans to procure or adjust Agreements and report to CEO for final decision.
- Provide updates to CEO on business development efforts in terms of progress against solidified goals.
- Present to the CSMD Board of Directors updates on business development activities.
- Serve as liaison between CareSouth and partnering agencies to manage business relationships.
- Confer with Staff Attorney for all negotiations and contractual agreements.
- Confer with Chief Financial Officer to ensure adequate standing prior to submitting financial commitments on behalf of CSMD.
- Collaborate with CSMD staff for outreach and marketing/promotional needs.
- Travel throughout the state for business procurement meetings and other business-related activities. Some out-of-state travel may be required.

- Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
- Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings, and community events.
- Work cohesively with team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field. Five years will substitute for the degree.
- The position requires a minimum of ten years' experience in business development; preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Advanced level computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
