CARESTL HEALTH is a Non for Profit, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving St. Louis communities and school-based operations.

CareSTL Health is seeking a Laboratory Technical Services Supervisor. The Laboratory Technical Services Supervisor has a comprehensive understanding of workings of a CLIA Certified Laboratory and is experienced in operational and quality management initiatives related to the working of the Laboratory, She/ He has extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in a CUA Certified Lab. She / He is responsible for strategic planning and direction for the Laboratory in compliance with the CLIA guidelines and ensuring the renewal of recertification, This position will be responsible for overseeing the operations and administration of the clinical laboratory testing for the lab department. Additionally, this candidate will create, implement, and manage the policies, procedures, and practices for optimal performance of the clinical diagnostics laboratory, This is a great leadership opportunity, where you will have the opportunity to facilitate innovation, manage change, and foster teambuilding to provide the highest quality product for our word-class diagnostics laboratory!


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Laboratory Technical Supervisor may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons,


  • Ensure laboratory is compliant with corporate, state and federal regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, State, ISO, etc) related to personnel safety and quality of laboratory testing as well as professional conduct.

  • Direct the daily operational activities of the Lab; both the technical and non-technical operations and Effectively manage the staffing of the department and monitor the production schedule to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime, and adjust as needed and Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory and have ownership and responsibility for all departmental

  • Assist with developing and implementing laboratory procedures and installation of equipment and methods and Manage staff including recruiting & hiring qualified and enthusiastic employees, performance management, training and development

  • Resolve client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner by consulting with the Medical Director, and other discipline directors.

  • Ensure effective communication with leadership, clients, sales, corporate operations, as well as direct reports and all departmental staff

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct departmental meetings and ensure appropriate departmental communication

  • Investigate deviations from established procedures to ensure effective corrective action

  • Maintain technical knowledge in the assigned department(s) for the laboratory testing

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

  • Other Functions as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification is required


Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technologist in a clinical diagnostics
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisor experience managing several direct reports
  • Previous experience managing people leaders is a plus
  • ASCP certification is required
  • Experience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees
  • Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Good oral and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational and self-motivational skills

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Laboratory Department

Additional Eligibility Qualifications (licenses, programs, certificates, pre-employment check and post and annual screening(s)

  • Copy of Diploma or Official Transcripts
  • Current Registration with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry
  • Annual PPD or Chest X-Ray
  • Copy of Missouri Nursing License

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates)

  • Compliance and CUA required

Additional Information:

Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
11 paid holidays per year.
