What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician/ Technologist position at CareSTL Health?
CareSTL Health is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician/ Technologist to perform laboratory tests in areas of, but not limited to, toxicology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology laboratories.
Duties:
- Knowledgeable of and follows all laboratory technical/quality assurance/quality improvement policies and procedures for specimen handling and processing, patient test records, and test analyses, including calibration procedures
- Reviews policies and procedures periodically and in a timely manner and brings any appropriate issues to the attention of the Director of Laboratory, Director of Ancillary Services, or Designee
- Adheres to all laboratory quality improvement/quality control policies. Reviews and documents QC results, as appropriate for the test system. Identifies and follows appropriate corrective action procedures for out-of-control QC results
- Periodically performs and documents proficiency testing (PT), test on appropriate specimens, slides, or PT material following laboratory policies
- Performs and documents all other internal quality assurance and training procedures (including, but not limited to, competency procedures)
- Performs daily and preventive instrument maintenance and/or function checks
- Follows all corrective actions procedures, if instruments(s) systems are not functioning within acceptable limits of performance
- Documents appropriately and bring any appropriate issues to the attention of the Director of Laboratory, Director of Ancillary Services, or Designee
- Identifies instrument and/or test system operational or performance issues, notifies and documents appropriate management of the problem, and takes corrective action as appropriate
- Rotate to other CareSTL Health Laboratories, as deemed necessary, by the Director of Laboratory, Director of Ancillary Services, or Designee to ensure adequate coverage

Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in medical Laboratory Technology with equivalent education/work experience required; or Associate's Degree with certification as either a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or a Clinical Lab Technician (CLT) required. MT certification preferred
- Experience: 1 years of experience in a laboratory setting preferred
- Other: Must have reliable transportation.
Additional Information:
Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
