Job Title: Veterinary Assistant
Job Summary: Vet Stop Animal Hospital is a small animal veterinary practice whose focus is on preventative/wellness care. This includes immunizations, preventative screenings, and spay and neuter procedures. Vet Stop Animal Hospital also performs diagnostic and treatment services. This includes, but is not limited to, diagnostic bloodwork, radiographs, and urinalysis. This is followed by appropriate treatment plans based on the results of said diagnostic services.
Vet Stop Animal Hospital prides itself on manifesting strong relationships with Clients and Patients. One of the largest contributors to this relationship is the Veterinary Assistant.
Job Responsibilities: A Veterinary Assistant employed by Vet Stop Animal Hospital responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Veterinarian with patient care
Work to protect public health as it relates to the Patient
Provide quality customer service
Educate the Client on general care, medical conditions, and treatment for the Patient as instructed by the Veterinarian
Stay up-to-date on current veterinary medical news and practices
Maintain clients and patient records
Collect payment for procedures performed from the Client
Maintain cleanliness in the workplace
Job Requirements: A Veterinary Assistant employed by Vet Stop Animal Hospital is seen as a source of knowledge and information by the Client so that they may better care for their pet (the Patient). Skills required of the Veterinary Assistant include the following:
Must have obtained a high school diploma
Ability to lift 40 pounds
Ability to be on feet/bend/squat/stand up/sit down for up to 4 hours at a time
Emotionally prepared to assist in difficult cases (i.e. illness, euthanasia)
Must be able to provide quality customer service to the Client
Willingness to work with both cats and dogs
Willingness to cross-train on other positions with the Company
Must have a clear understanding of animal behavior and be able to work with a variety of patient demeanors
Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and the Veterinarian to successfully complete a diagnostic and treatment plan for the Patient
Must have basic computer and multi-line phone skills
Dedication of long-term employment with Vet Stop Animal Hospital
