About the Role
Caribou is looking for a Senior Account with a high level of integrity and enjoys working in a fast paced high growth environment as a Senior Accountant. As a member of Caribou’s Finance team, this person will work directly with Controller on building scalable accounting systems & processes to support Caribou’s next phase of growth while hyper focused on the precision of our accounting records. This role will:
- Ensuring strict adherence to GAAP and best in class accounting policies and procedures.
- Directs all accounting functions including, but not limited to, cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue accounting, general accounting, fixed assets and inventory, payroll, equity, COR (cost of revenue) accounting and SG&A expenses.
- Establishes and maintains the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
- Supervises and provides technical guidance to accounting department staff on a regular basis.
- Conducts, oversees and reviews monthly close processes with ownership of accuracy of general ledger & monthly financial statements.
- Analyzes revenue and spend variance vs. budget, forecast and prior quarters.
- Serves as a Company liaison to independent accounting firms and oversees the annual audit and supports various tax compliance filings.
- Responsible for development of internal control policies and procedures.
- Reviewing and assisting in preparing monthly Operating Reports, following up with business during the monthly close process.
- Supports systems design to ensure the efficient operations of the function. Works with systems experts to document and create scalable operational workflows and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures.
This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC; Denver, CO; Austin, TX. Alternatively, the Senior Accountant may work remotely from a state where Caribou does business. However, this role will require attendance at occasional in-person team meetings. As a result, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be eligible for this position.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA preferred
- Minimum 8 years accounting experience, with 3 years management/supervision experience required, working in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong month end close and internal controls experience a must.
- Big Four public accounting experience and/or large corporate experience strongly preferred.
- Able to collaborate outside of the finance function.
- ERP systems implementation experience is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills and be able to manage large datasets.
- Ability to work independently, plan and manage own workload, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, analytical and interpretive skills
- Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
- Demonstrated track record of increasing levels of responsibility.
