Direct Support Professional
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) is designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, traumatic brain injuries, or chronic illnesses to increase independence.
Direct Support Professionals work one on one with a client in their own homes and in the community to build skills that empower them and help them to engage and integrate with their community.
Experience with Independent Living Skills
Responsibilities
- Support the person’s development of decision-making skills and informed choices in all aspects of daily living, including selection of service providers, goals and methods, location and décor of residence, roommates, daily routines, leisure activities and personal possession.
- Scheduling appointments and transportation during scheduled time
- Meet with clients regularly as scheduled in their homes, providing remote supports as needed.
- Support clients with problem solving through daily needs and tasks
- Understand and work to follow through support plan goals
- Timely completion of documentation of activities and progress as directed by supervisor
- Clear and professional communication with clients, supervisor, and members of the support team
- Transporting clients as needed throughout the community for appointments and activities
- Increase the person’s independence by teaching skills so the person can perform tasks and activities with dependence on caregivers
- Increase the person’s opportunities to interact with people without disabilities who are not paid caregivers
- Provide daily schedules, routines, environments and interactions similar
Qualifications
- Valid driver license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years experience in Direct Care
- Ability to pass a criminal background study
- Dependability and availability

Homemaking
Homemakers make sure the clients living environment is clean and safe
Homemakers primarily do in depth cleaning and organizing of the clients home as well as laundry.

Performing these duties according to the care plan will allow the client to remain independent in their own home and community

Tasks
The homemaking tasks include but are not limited to: meal preparation, shopping and errands, routine household care, transportation arrangement, companionship, emotional support, social stimulation, and monitoring the safety and well-being of the clients
While providing services to the client, employee will accurately maintain documentation of service provided and changes in client's health status.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
