Position Summary
The Scientist I is responsible for designing experiments and implementing them by performing various molecular techniques that include, but are not limited to, RNA/ DNA extraction and quantification, PCR, Library preparation, Next generation sequencing. Scientists are responsible also for training lab members, communicating with the different departments, laboratory inventory, sample tracking, ordering supplies and receiving packages. This position works under the supervision of Senior Scientist.
Job Responsibilities
Experimental design.
Experimental implementation, troubleshooting and analysis of results.
Performs molecular techniques such as RNA/DNA extraction, quantifications, library prep, Next generation sequencing.
Sample tracking.
Performs experiments in a timely manner and submits results to supervisors.
Conduct validation testing for new clinical assays.
Present Scientific findings at in house, local, national, or international meetings or through publications.
Train lab members.
Communicate with different Departments.
Maintain laboratory equipment including completing logs and maintenance (clean, sterilize, maintain, and shut down laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments daily and weekly as required).
Unpack reagents orders as received, logs them in a reagent database, creates labels, tracking documentation, and QC forms; and stores them in proper location and conditions.
Drive for Results (Service Quality and continues improvement)- ensure procedures and processes are in place and lead to quality results and continually reassess their effectiveness to achieve continuous improvement.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Communication: proficient verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to share and receive information and ideas from all levels of the organization to achieve the desired results.

Required Qualifications
PhD degree in Molecular Sciences
0-1 years' experience
Demonstrated experience in experimental design, implementation, data analysis, and interpretation.
Demonstrated skills on experiment and sample tracking.
Ability to present experiments and results to other team members and supervisors.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically word, Excel, Outlook, general working knowledge of internet for business use.
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for biohazards and chemicals as well as quality control procedures and regulations.
Conditions of Employment: Individuals must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in circulating DNA.
Experience in high throughput processing and automation.
Physical Demands
Will work both at a computer station and in the bench.
Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test.
Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterole techniques as required.
Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
May have exposure to high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous materials in the lab environment. Exposure to formaldehyde, xylene, Clorox Bleach, DAB and alcohol which emit fumes. The formaldehyde, xylene and DAB are carcinogenic.
Able to handle blood and general laboratory reagents.
Training
All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.
Other
This position requires periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
Job may require after-hours response to emergency issues.
Periodically scheduled on-call may require after-hours response for technical emergencies not explicitly related to assigned job responsibilities.
