What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Operator Forklift Operator position at Carlex?
Essentials Job Functions:
- Transport finished / raw goods to and from designated production areas in the plant as directed.
- Remove scrap, recyclables and other waste material from the plant and place in designated dumpster.
- Place raw glass safely into robot staging area for production consumption.
- Stack goods to be warehoused into proper storage racks or designated floor locations
- Verify that all loads are secure for transport through the plant, or when placed in storage or when loaded onto a truck
- Stack and move empty pallets, rack etc. as directed
- Perform the OSHA required daily pre-shift inspection of forklift before using it
- Promote safe work environment by following all OSHA safety rules and guidelines for the safe operation of assigned forklift
- Clear work area of loose wood, plastic and other debris; sweep area as needed
- Report any faulty equipment, damage to racks, or other potential safety hazards to supervisor
- Process department paperwork such as Bill of Ladings, ASNs, etc.
- Conduct visual inspection of products
- Follow all safety, quality, performance and attendance rules
- Load and/or unload glass on various conveyor systems
- Move racks of product using powered industrial trucks
- Band racks of product per specifications
- Pack product into racks for shipment to other areas of plant or to customer
- Perform adjustments and minor repairs to machinery as needed and/or directed
- Generate and maintain appropriate records as required.
- Achieve operator certification in all functions worked
- Participate and embrace continuous improvement (LEAN) actions
- Other duties as assigned
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts or alternate work schedules
- Available to work night shift
- Ability to frequently lift up to 45 lbs.
- Reliable transportation required
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays
- Follow all OSHA and company safety rules for the safe operation of equipment
- Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
- Maintain a clean & safe working environment
- May be required to use RF scanner device
- Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license required
- Forklift certification per OSHA standards required
- Ability to work any shift or department as assigned
- Be alert of other employees, pedestrians in the plant
- Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as work load or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays
