The Intern should be ready for an immersive, real-world experience. Under the supervision of our staff, the Accounting Intern can expect to participate in the preparation of journal entries and financial reports, analyze actual financial data, learn more about bookkeeping software, and assist with other accounting activities. The Intern should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.
To be a strong candidate for this position you should be pursuing a Business Degree with a focus in Accounting / Finance and should possess an understanding of accounting and financial principles and maintain a positive attitude. You should be collaborative, driven, trustworthy, curious, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.
Position is located in-office in the Corporate Headquarters located in Mobile, AL.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Shadowing members of the Accounting department as they perform their duties.
- Assisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
- Working with finance software.
- Assist with month-end financial reports.
- Post journal entries.
- Help with accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Involvement in reconciliations.
- Assist with audits.
- Collaborate with the finance team.
- Any task deemed requested by supervisor.
- Not all aspects of the job are covered by the descriptions, other duties roles and projects as assigned.
- Position may change as the industry and technology evolve.
Requirements:
- Junior or senior level in good standings and / or pursuing an Accounting/Finance career or related business career preferred.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher preferred.
- Available between the months of May – August.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills.
- Aptitude for mathematics.
- Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
- Must have strong work ethic.
- Must be well organized and a self-starter.
- Located in Mobile, AL and / or surrounding area(s).
- Ability to work in-office on daily basis.
