We are seeking a professional, experienced, and skilled Accounting Supervisor to assist in overseeing Accounting Dept. staff and all aspects of the Accounting Department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Controller in overseeing Accounting staff in all aspects of department functions, including AP, AR, Billing, Trust & Financial Reporting.
- Coordinate month end procedures with staff to produce monthly financial statements and reports.
- Perform and review reconciliations for all GL and client trust accounts.
- Monitor billing activities, including collection efforts based on requests by Billing Attorneys.
- Review manager-approved invoices for proper GL coding and approve for payment.
- Ensure internal controls and proper accounting policies are exercised to safeguard Firm's assets and integrity of data.
- Assist Controller in responding to internal & external requests or inquiries regarding various matters or issues relating to the Business Office.
- Prepare monthly gross income tax returns.
- Review and monitor AP, AR, and Trust Account functions and project deadlines.
- Collaborate and assist in annual financial audit/reviews, tax preparation, semi-annual banking compliance reports with outside consultants.
- Assist with cash flow projections, budget/forecast reports and any other reports requested by the Chair or Executive Committee.
- Communicate with Attorneys, legal and administrative staff, clients and others by phone and email.
- Develop and maintain accounting/financial related policies, procedures, and internal controls. Train new staff with accounting processes.
- Backup and support all Business Office functions, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years accounting experience and 2 years supervisory experience.
Accounting experience dealing with professional partnerships (i.e., accounting firm, law firm, physician's group, etc.) a plus.
Certification: Preferred: CPA (Active or Inactive).

- Solid understanding and demonstrated competency in all accounting functions.
- Detail oriented, accurate, and highly organized to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Able to train, coach, and supervise team members effectively in order to build a skilled and capable accounting team.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes.
- Computer literate: Excel - Intermediate to Advanced skills. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Adobe, Access or other accounting software and database applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependable with strong work ethic.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively - self-starter with ability to multitask.
- Preferred but not required: knowledge of Aderant, Access, Power Point.
