A postdoctoral position is available in the research groups of Prof. Simran Singh and Prof. Jyoti Katoch, Department of Physics, Carnegie Mellon University. The research project will focus on studying spin-orbit torque-based magnetic probabilistic devices, magnetization dynamics using ferromagnetic resonance techniques, charge/spin transport, and magnetic proximity effects in heterostructures and devices consisting of layered quantum materials.
Carnegie Mellon University is in Pittsburgh, PA, America's most livable city. Carnegie Mellon University offers state-of-the-art facilities for quantum material research and has strong commitments to diversity and inclusion in hiring, and to a supportive and free work environment. This position supports one year of funding initially, with the possibility of extension to a second and/or third year upon mutual agreement.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.
Information about the CMU Physics Department can be found at .
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in experimental condensed-matter physics or a related field, and preferably will have experience in nanofabrication; assembly of heterostructures of two-dimensional materials; magnetotransport measurement; and/or magnetic resonance techniques. The start date of this position is May 13 th, 2024, but negotiable. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively and mentor graduate students and undergraduate students in the research group.
Applicants should include a cover letter; a CV including a list of publications, talks, and other presentations; and the names and contact information for at least 2 references. Consideration will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
