What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Secretary position at Caroline County Public Schools?
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the School Principal or appropriate Central Office supervisor, a Secretary II provides services of a general, special, technical, sensitive, and/or confidential nature.
Minimum Requirements of the Position:
- High school diploma or GED
- A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience or training as a secretary
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and software-related job responsibilities.
- A professional manner
- Good interpersonal communication skills.A willingness and capability to work beyond the normal workday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Position:
- Performs a wide variety of secretarial/administrative duties as required by daily operations.
- Maintains strict confidentiality.
- Using independent judgment, screens, prioritizes, channels, and facilitates communications from internal/external constituencies including telephone calls, mail, and e-mail.
- Prioritizes tasks and information flow while functioning well within a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Manages electronic/paper filing systems and maintains/updates complex filing/contact lists.
- Provides copies of all necessary information to be shared at an IEP meeting.
- Supports special education teachers by completing specific forms, making parent/guardian and outside agency contacts, and taking meeting notes during IEP meetings.
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
- Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.
Salary: This is a 10-month position with a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Support Services Personnel Salary Schedule. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills, and training related to this position.
