What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Director position at Carousel Kids?
We are looking for a qualified Director with over 3 years experience being a Director who will oversee the daily operations and administration of the preschool & infant center.
They will oversee the coordination of education programs that comply with local and federal regulations (title 22), ensure that facilities are maintained, manage and support daycare staff.
Successful applicants will have demonstrable experience in managing all aspects of the child care center, as well as strong leadership skills to manage the rest of team members
Should be flexible and experienced regarding covering in classrooms for breaks/staff absence to work with any age group (6 weeks-6 years).
Responsibilities
- The Director’s most important responsibility is to ensure that every student is supervised at all times by a qualified staff member while on the school grounds.
- The Director will have direct supervisory responsibility of all staff. All staff will report to the Director.
- Supervise employees of the program daily. Responsible for interviewing, training and performing formal evaluations of teachers. Any staff disciplinary problems must be brought to the attention of the owners.
- Responsible for reviewing weekly/monthly lesson plans.
- Responsible for ongoing staff training and staff meetings with the owners and plan, direct staff meetings with the owners.
- Responsible for seeing that the program is always neat, clean, organized and maintained so it projects a positive image to the public.
- Recommend to owners the maintenance and improvements of physical plant and grounds necessary for meeting health and safety childcare requirements.
- Order materials for the programs with prior approval for the owners.
- Plan and maintain monthly snack menu.
- Responsible for observation of health and safety of children.
- Ensure staff maintain 100% visual supervision with the children both indoors and outside on the playground.
- Act as Substitute /Floater Teacher
- Perform all teacher job description duties when a teacher is absent.
- Assist in all classrooms, including bathrooms, diapering and napping.
- Stimulate staff with new ideas, resources and materials.
- Develop and maintain professional communication links with parents.
- Greet parents as they arrive and as they leave every day.
- Conduct tours with parents and communicate the program and its philosophy.
- Plan and conduct orientations and other special occasions.
- Must have a “Pulse” on the program and parents, know each parent and open to them.
- Perform all required office duties that are involved in daily operations of the facilities.
- Knowledge and implementation of California child care guidelines and state licensing. Ensure all employee, children and administration documents are in compliance with DSS licensing
- Ability to implement policy and procedures for the operations of the centers
- Strong organizational, communication , public relations, computer and interpersonal skills
- Represent the center in a professional, courteous and positive manner at all times.
- Ensure proper coverage of the center from open to close
- Parent communication, responding to messages
- Responsible for overall curriculum development and ensure that lesson planning, observations, assessments, documentation are being completed by staff on a daily basis
- Tours prospective families, follow-ups, enrollments
- Assists with monthly newsletter
- Oversees Parent-Teacher conferences.
- Handles staff and parents concerns with professionalism
- Builds relationships with partners to support and promote success of program
- Design and follow a complete teaching plan
- Teach alphabet and numeracy along with personal, social and emotional skills
- Organize learning material and resources
- Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities etc) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities
- Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information
- Assess students performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on regular basis
- Monitor children’s interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing
- Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations
- Professional, positive and motivated attitude with impeccable leadership skills, team player, works closely with owner, builds relationship with staff, encouraging and compassionate, passionate about Early Childhood Education.
Skills
- Proven working experience as a Director - 5year (preferred)
- Administration ECE units (required)
- Taken the infant/toddler ECE development ECE class (required)
- Excellent knowledge of child development and latest education theories and practices
- Creative and artistic teaching abilities
