Accountant for Government Contracting Services
Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC is searching for a motivated accountant or CPA to join our team in assisting our government contract customers with full-charge bookkeeping and related services. The qualified candidate should have 2-5 years working in the government contracting industry or in construction with job costing as an accountant. Additionally, the candidate should have working knowledge of the accounting and payroll functions for government contractors and Federal Acquisition Regulations. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work with others, manage varied deliverables and interface with customers.
Essential Functions:
- Work will involve providing consulting services to both small and large government contract clients.Work closely with practice leadership to plan and execute the following types of projects:
- Provide full accural month end close for clients and/or assist with full cycle accounting.
- Assist with accounting system implementations and design in various software – QuickBooks, Unanet, DynamicseFAACT, Deltek Costpoint
- Understand and assist to setup indirect cost pools and provide analysis and/or modeling to assist clients
- Prepare payroll tax returns (Federal and State), sales tax returns and 1099’s
- Assist with preparation of Provisional Billing Rates
- Prepare Incurred Cost Submissions
- Support and assist with RFP submissions
- Compliance and Gap Assessments (FAR, DFARS, CAS, etc.)
- Assist with getting a client ready for DCAA audit Assist with
- DFAR business system evaluations, process documentation and improvements
- Research FAR accounting principles, if and when needed
Requirements:
- Competency and technical skill sets include (but are not limited to) strong knowledge of accounting principles and standard accounting processes and job costing
- Advanced Microsoft Office Software – notably Excel
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- A history of demonstrated client service and ability to work independently or with a team
- Understanding of FAR, CAS, DFARS and other Federal regulations related to accounting system compliance
- Adaptable and capable of communicating professionally and effectively
- Enhanced critical thinking and problem solving skills
