Investment Analyst (1-3 Years of Experience)
Our Investment Analyst will support the day-to-day management of Carriage Services preneed funeral and cemetery trust funds and investment portfolio. The primarily goal is to assist managing roughly $280 million of assets for the long-term benefit of Carriage Services and its stakeholders. The analyst should have knowledge of financial analysis, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and demonstrate problem solving skills and creative thinking.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Be a key member of the investments team, participating in all aspects of the investment process (research and operations) including equity/bond market research and analysis as well as maintaining and analyzing performance data and portfolio characteristics.
· Generate and distribute the Daily Investment Portfolio to company executives
· Confirm trades and work with traders and counterparties to resolve discrepancies
· Manage post-trade processes and exceptions to ensure timely and accurate settlement
· Investigate and validate inaccuracies or anomalies identified through data mining and reconciliations
· Assist in generating and distributing periodic trust fund reporting
· Organize and map data from single or multiple systems
· Monitor data feeds and system interfaces for errors and work with senior members of the team to research and initiate resolution
· Provide quality assurance of imported data
· Support portfolio management team by responding to requests for information and analysis
· Collect, track and analyze research across various asset classes (primarily stocks and high yield bonds)
· Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and complete special projects upon request
Skills/Educational Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with a strong academic track record required
· 1-3 years of experience in a corporate finance/accounting role or trust banking company preferred
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to include experience with building and improving financial models
· Excellent analytical skills required
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
