This position is responsible for assisting the local depot with equipment scheduling, maintenance, repair, and quality control, as well as shipping and receiving with respect to the rental equipment fleet.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Responsibilities
- Schedule preventive maintenance with the Lead Tech(s) and Depot Manager
- Load and unload equipment in the yard
- Inspect equipment leaving the yard (verify tagging status)
- Verify proper bill of lading before the equipment leaving the yard
- Verify equipment returning to the yard matches the original bill of lading
- Inspect equipment returning from customer sites for damage and inform TM of the damage and cost to repair
- Establish and maintain spare parts inventory
- Maintain trailers inspections and registrations
- Maintain active task list for equipment repairs in the yard
Quality Control
- Schedule operational inspections on all active rental equipment.
- Prioritize and schedule preventive maintenance and equipment repairs on non-active equipment and record last maintenance dates in the system.
- Perform "quality control" with respect to billing for damaged equipment and missing accessories on returned equipment.
- Assist Depot Manager in minimizing job site repair expenses, as well as intra-depot freight expenses.
- Maintain a record of service activities, including closing out jobs on the schedule board when completed.
- Conduct applicable safety inspections, if assigned, on a timely basis (office, warehouse, equipment yard, records, and fire extinguisher).
Customer Satisfaction
- Interact with customers to determine appropriate service requirements. Keep customers and salespeople informed on all orders and releases.
- Direct sales lead to salespeople, when appropriate.
- Log daily service calls and ensure prompt closure. Coordinate and assist Depot Manager with technician and subcontractor scheduling and other depot activities
Buildings and Grounds Maintenance
- Snow removal
- Lawn service
- Building maintenance
- Shop cleanliness
Environmental Health and Safety
- Follow and maintain the environmental health and safety (EH&S) plan for the facility operation as stated in the Monthly Activity Plan (MAP) and Web-based EH&S procedures with guidance from the Depot Manager.
- Complete all online required eCompliance courses.
Daily Tasks
- Walk the yard at the beginning of each day
- Revise the task list
- Startup generators every other day and run for 30 minutes
- Complete the tank inspection sheet
- Complete the forklift inspection sheet
- Walk yard at the end of each day
- Make sure the shop is clean at the end of each day
Required Education:
- AAS degree, Technical/business school certificate or diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or another post-high-school training (two years).
Required Experience:
- Minimum six years experience in quality control, inventory management, transportation (fleet) management, or other related fields.
- Warehouse experience required.
- Customer service experience required.
Required Skills:
- Strong communication and customer service skills are a must.
- Must be computer literate.
- Familiarity with inventory or operations software is a plus.
- Must have the ability to multi-task in a very fast past environment, particularly during summer months.
- Overtime is required during the summer months.
- Must have the ability to handle regular physical activity, including stretching, bending, lifting, pulling.
- Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds
