Drayage Dispatcher

**Job Description:**

Carroll Trucking is currently seeking an Experienced Drayage/Intermodal Dispatcher to join our team in Norfolk, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and tracking container movements, utilizing efficient routing for local and regional drivers on a daily basis. This position requires excellent communication, computer, time management, and organizational skills.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities:**

- Daily communication with Customers, Company Drivers, Contract Drivers, Steamship Terminal Personnel, and internal service representatives to coordinate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Utilization of port systems and our company's TMS system to schedule appointments and create daily assignments for company drivers and contract drivers.
- Coordination and problem-solving of pick-ups and deliveries.
- Ensuring compliance with customer levels of service and deadline requirements to eliminate service failures.
- Accurate record-keeping and auditing of all documents for equipment tracking.
- Tracking, tracing, and reporting container activity.
- Regularly updating relevant systems to track appointments and drays.
- Communicating company policies and procedures to drivers, monitoring their performance against standards, and recommending corrective actions to management.
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with customers, Terminal Operators, and drivers.
- Cultivating strong relationships with drivers and customers to reduce the stress associated with last-minute schedule changes.

**Basic Qualifications:**

- Positive attitude.
- Understanding of port operations.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
