This is for a bench position for the 2024-2025 school year.
This may be a 1:1 role or possibly an in-building school nursing role.
Preferred appliants will have previous pediatric experience either in a school and or home setting. Keep reading to learn more.
As we are looking build a pool of qualified and ready nurses for the new school year. These spots are always hard to come by, so we want to hire in advance for the need when it arises. There is no need to leave your current employer at this time. You will receive advance notice of a possible opening so you can make plans. Please note that there is no promise of placement. This is a proactive approach to fill future positions. Starting dates are typically in late July to early August depending on school schedules. These roles may also include summer school and the nurse would have an opportunity to return the following year based on performance.
The Nurses to join our school nursing system, must be dependable. Meaning you show up on time when scheduled and that you can be relied upon to provide high-quality care so child can attend school and or be cared for in the school setting. The nurse should be available to work Mon-Fri between 7a and 4p. You may have to arrive at the start of your shift to put patient on bus, ride the bus with patient, provide total care at school then return to the home bus stop with student and end shift. You may also be able to provide in-building nursing for 1 student or the entire school.
We are looking for a nurse to provide 5-Star nursing care, but also those that can be a companion to help nurture learning and growth. We want self -starters, and those that can complete charting as required, no need in taking work home. Are you detailed orientated, and a natural problem solver and have a great personality? Required Qualifications:
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Valid & Active Illinois Nursing License
Current CPR, issued by AHA or Red Cross
Current Hep B test within last 9 months
Current TB Test Results within last 9 months
Health Physical within last 9 months
Must pass DCFS screenings and mandatory reporting training
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to pass drug screenings and other background checks.
Willing to travel to patients home & travel with patient to and from school setting.
Experienced caring for patients with feeding tubes, min 6 months
Experienced caring for patients with Trachs, min 6 months.
Experience in the home setting or school setting with pediatric patients is a strong plus
Experienced caring for patients with Vents desired but not required in all cases, min 6 months is desired
