Position: School Nurse Coordinator
Term: Full-time, 220 Days
Classification: Classified/Exempt
Location: Welcome Center
Qualifications: RN License, required; BSN degree, preferred; Minimum of 4 Years of Clinical Experience or Experience as a School Nurse, preferred; CPR and First Aid Certified, required; Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google products;

Reports to: Director of Special Services
The job responsibility of the Nurse Coordinator is to perform supervisory and planning duties for School Nurses as well as serve as a Building Nurse during Summer School and other times as needed.

- Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and Board policy.
- Solve practical problems as needed to complete job duties.
- Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.
Essential Functions:
- Provide professional direction, support, and leadership to health services personnel as well as address health and safety issues district-wide.
- Assist families in obtaining immunization compliance by connecting them with helpful and appropriate resources
- Perform supervisory and planning duties for School Nurses, directing their work and arranging substitutes as needed. Serve as a School Nurse when a substitute is unavailable.
- Collaborate with Building Principals in interviews and evaluations of School Nurses. Provide training for new hires and providing professional development for School Nurses as needed.
- Ensure compliance to District policies as well as applicable law.
- Promote health and wellness among students and staff, as well as focusing on the early detection and appropriate management of health concerns, collaborating with community agencies as needed.
- Serve as a liaison to community agencies, CDC, and local health departments as needed.
- Ensure student medical records are kept accurately and comprehensively.
- Protect the health status of students and staff though functions in the area of health services, health education, and maintenance of a healthy school environment at the building level.
- Provide health assessments and implement health plans and procedures.
- Provide direct nursing intervention including first aid responding and regular monitoring as needed.
- Compile data on injuries in the school setting.
- Ensure that each student complies with the immunization requirements of the State of Missouri.
- Assist in coordinating and participating in health/wellness projects.
- Provide professional direction, support, and leadership to health services personnel as well as addressing health and safety issues district wide.
- Continuously focus on effectively managing the health services program, working closely with district administrators and health services personnel in the development and/or improvement of health-related policies and procedures.
- Communicate with state, regional and local health professionals concerning school health issues and utilize the information to improve the health services program.
- Order health service supplies for the district.
- Be available in the office or on a cell phone for emergency calls throughout the District.
- Administer appropriate level of first aid for illness and injury, including CPR, when necessary.
- Carry out all other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation.
