About the team and position
As an Asset Protection Associate Team Lead you will be an integral part of the Safe and Secure Team executing programs and processes at our facility to ensure our associates and assets are protected. Your daily duties will vary depending upon your assignment. At our gates, our Asset Protection Associates are the face of Carvana to our employees, vendors, and visitors. As an Asset Protection Team Lead, you’ll train our Associates on proper protocols, egress and digress procedures, and emergency procedures to provide assistance when needed. You will play an active role in ensuring our Inventory Control procedures are adhered to. You’ll create and maintain schedules to ensure the proper coverage is in place. You will be adept at utilizing Carvana technology to ensure RFID scans are completed. You will interact with our Inspection Center and Logistics Team in documenting vehicle destinations and locations. You will support vehicle location research when necessary and provide key details to the Asset Protection Manager to assist in any investigation. This position is hourly and reports to the Asset Protection Manager.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage and properly document the movement of cars into and out of the Inspection Center entrance and exit gates.
- Conduct routine patrols of the Inspection Center and Logistics facility yard and buildings - documenting any security and/or safety concerns.
- Train and lead a team of Asset Protection Associates and monitor job performance while they are on their assigned job functions.
- Effectively coach Asset Protection Associates to improve or elevate day-to-day performance.
- Creates and manages assigned shift schedules to ensure adequate coverage is in place at all times and at all entrance/exit gates (includes management of time off requests , intraday changes, and unplanned absences).
- Conscientiously work in ways that decrease the possibility of injury to yourself or other team members by wearing proper PPE and providing a leading example in safe work practices.
- Conduct business within Carvana policies and procedures.
- Act ethically, with integrity and in the best interest of the customer and the business at all times
- Portray a positive image of Carvana and actively participate in the creation of a positive, professional work environment.
What you should know/have
- The qualifying candidate must love helping people and possess the drive to achieve superior customer satisfaction. They must be goal-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Security officer/Loss Prevention leadership experience.
- Experience supervising/managing a team.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Attention to detail is required as well as the ability to interact with managers and coworkers in a professional, courteous manner.
- Some computer/clerical skills required.
- Valid driver's license, and insurable DMV required.

Other requirements
To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- This job position is designated as a safety-sensitive position
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels
- Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet
- Requires standing for extended periods of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance
- Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity
- Requires use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment
- Requires frequent driving and computer data entry
- Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance
- The facility is a 24/7 operation and gates must be manned at all times.
