ALLOY WHEEL REPAIR TECHNICIAN

The Alloy Wheel Repair Technician will report to the Body Shop Manager or Production Shop Manager and be tasked with full scope wheel repair and refinishing per customer standards.

Responsibilities

For full and partial wheel repairs, remove cosmetic surface damage including curb rash, gouges, scratches, and chips through a preparation process that includes the use of power and manual tools to grind and sand the imperfections to a factory spec condition.

Surface prep, mask, color match, refinish, and buff as required to factory standards. Blending, polishing, touch-up, and other techniques may also be utilized to restore wheels to pre-damage standards.

Removal of the wheel or both wheel and tire may also be necessary for some repairs. Must be experienced or willing to be trained and certified in the use and care of CNC lathe, although not all locations may use the technology.

Maintain quality and production standards and assignments. All technicians are required to maintain a clean, organized workspace free of safety hazards.

Requirements

• Must be an experienced-level technician capable of delivering quality and production in a production auction environment
• Prefer 1 years of wheel repair and refinishing experience in a mobile or shop environment
• All technicians must be able to perform quality repairs with little to no supervision or interventional requirements
• Proper and safe use of all hand tools, power tools, equipment and materials is a must
• Team player with interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, self-starter, organizational skills, detail-oriented, problem solver
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, bend, squat
• Production standards / capabilities : must be able to perform a minimum of 10 completed cosmetic repair wheels per day with no re-do's (goal is 15-20)

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
• Must have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with internal and external service station / convenience food and petroleum dispensing operations.
