What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post Doctoral Neuropsychology Fellow position at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare?
The goals for postdoctoral training are for advanced training and the development of competency in adult neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapeutic intervention within the medical hospital and rehabilitation environment. Direct clinical activities will include clinical interviewing, test selection, conducting brief to comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, case conceptualization, report-writing, consultation with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, provision of feedback and education to patients and families, group psychoeducation and psychotherapy, brief psychotherapeutic interventions, cognitive rehabilitation, and integration within the multidisciplinary team. Presenting conditions vary widely, with a heavy focus on traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury. Fellow will be an active participant in the interdisciplinary team rounds and regular consultation with multidisciplinary staff. Participation in research is also available and expected.
Supervision and Training:
- A minimum of 4 hours per week of supervision
- 2-3 hours per week of structured educational activities
- Attendance at weekly neuropsychology/rehabilitation psychology didactics
- Participation in other educational opportunities
Qualifications include:
- Successful completion of all degree requirements for doctoral degree in clinical psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D.)
- Successful completion of APA-accredited psychology internship
- Prior clinical experience in health psychology, neuropsychology, or rehabilitation psychology
- AHA CPR/AED and First Aid certifications by beginning of employment
- Background check (Livescan) by beginning of employment
- Successful registration as a psychological assistant through the California Board of Psychology
The Neuropsychology Fellow functions under the supervision of a staff psychologist/neuropsychologist at the full professional level by applying psychological/neuropsychological principles in the following major areas: clinical, research, training, supervision (practicum level students), and consultation. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and the ability to assess and interpret age-specific data to incorporate into patient care. Ability to function as a team member, ability to deal effectively with a variety of patients and families dealing with physical disabilities. Ability to teach and supervise practicum level students. Ability to administer, score, and interpret a wide variety of neuropsychological tests. Ability to provide psychotherapy to individuals and families confronting life changes secondary to accident and/or illness. Work within an interdisciplinary intervention model.
