Advocate Supervisor Job Description

CASA of Southwest Missouri

General Description

The Advocate Supervisor will provide direction, support and assistance to the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers. The Advocate Supervisor will be guided by the best interest of the child and will exercise independent judgment on behalf of the child, while staying aligned with CASA of Southwest Missouri’s internal policies and directives. The Advocate Supervisor reports to the Lead Advocate Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Volunteer Case Management & Support

  • Empower volunteers with knowledge and support necessary to effectively participate in the legal process and ensure child advocacy services
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Advocate for timely hearings, timely enforcement of necessary services and timely enforcement of court orders
  • Personally be available to volunteers during regular business hours, or provide for availability by another supervisor
  • Ensure volunteers submit reports to Advocate Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Attend court hearings and Family Support Team meetings
  • Ensure Optima database is up to date with appropriate files and records on all case matters
  • Provide reports as requested by Program Director and Executive Director
  • Provide volunteer care and recognition to volunteers
  • Actively participate in recruiting new volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned

Volunteer Training

  • Participates in the training of new CASA volunteers
  • Participates in volunteer in-service presentations
  • Ensure CASA volunteers attain annual in-service commitments
  • Ensure CASA volunteers understand the Optima database

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or similar, required
  • Two years foster care case management/child welfare experience, preferred
  • The ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles
  • The ability to work cooperatively with a diverse individuals
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect
  • Commitment to CASA program’s goals and mission
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete criminal background check and child abuse background check

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
