CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:

CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Virginia, and nationally, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits
DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:
The Department of Community Economic Development (CED) houses three programs:
- Employment Program: Connects employers with workers.
- Workforce Development Program: Provides vocational training classes.
- Small Business Development Program: Assists current and new entrepreneurs with start-up opportunities for their small businesses
POSITION SUMMARY:
It is a vital frontline job, helps community members CASA services, engages in CASA and CASA in Action activities, assesses their needs, navigates them to the appropriate service, and promotes CASA membership and power-building opportunities.
CASA seeks a professional candidate with excellent public service skills.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for welcoming the community to the center.
- Support the development and expansion of the membership program.
- Provide quality information and referrals to the community.
- Perform CASA membership process, data validation, data collection, data update, ID production, membership renewals and replacements, process payments, and reconciliation.
- Create and maintain a network of resources to facilitate referrals to the community.
- Work in collaboration with all CASA Departments and Programs in launching new start-up programs, innovations, initiatives, and power-building activities.
- Review and enter daily data; ensure good quality and accuracy of data collected.
- Participate in meetings, retreats, planning, training, and evaluations.
- Cover for the Employment Specialist and take on all the duties and responsibilities of the Employment Specialist.
- Participate in CASA and CASA in Action activities and mobilizations.
- Follow the code of conduct.
- Other Duties as Assigned
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- High School graduates required some college-level courses preferred
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish; French proficiency is a plus.
- Must be able to travel short and long distances independently.
