Cascade Windows is a leading manufacturer of vinyl windows and patio doors for the Western United States, specializing in new construction and remodeling.
We're currently looking for a Quality Technician (Swing Shift) for our Salt Lake City, UT location. This position ensures that standards set forth by the Plant Managers continue throughout the production process. A Quality Technician inspects and detects non-conformance, notifies managers and supervisors of the results, and prevents defects from reaching consumers. Additionally, the QA Technician is involved in continuous improvement of the production process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform process audits of employee quality inspections & equipment setup and conditions to ensure process controls are observed.
- Analysis and tests of raw materials and finished goods to ensure compliance to specifications and customer and regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing and understanding customer certifications and purchasing requirements which include knowledge in blue prints, specifications, and contracts.
- Performing dimensional and visual inspection in accordance with written planning and procedures.
- Assist production in identifying root cause of defect trends then recommend corrective/containment action as appropriate.
- Identify and segregate nonconforming raw materials for disposition.
- Proactive attitude toward learning/training and be capable of working in a dynamic team environment.
- Creation of area and job specific training documents and standard work or task instruction sheets.
- Supporting and advancing a strong safety culture.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- 2 years of related experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and organize work in order to accomplish assigned tasks while working multiple programs/projects
- Analytical and problem-solving skills in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team project and organize data inputs from multiple sources
- Keen attention to detail in daily job functions
- Skilled in shop mathematical applications
- Proficient in use of measuring devices like gauges, meters, calipers to perform dimensional inspection
- Experience in nonconformance documentation
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and specifications
- Organized documentation and reporting skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Advanced computer skills and ability to learn multiple new software applications
- Working knowledge and experience with Six Sigma and LEAN Manufacturing principles and methodologies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- 4 years of related experience
- ISO, Six Sigma, or other Quality/Lean certification.
- A.S. Degree or equivalent preferred.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED required; A.S. Degree or equivalent preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS
- ISO, Six Sigma, or other Quality/Lean certification preferred.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, grasp, stand, walk and perform fine manipulation with fingers
- Lift/carry up to 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Close vision, color perception, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposed to excessive noise, dust, fumes or chemicals on the shop floor.
- Intermittently exposed to inclement weather.
