This is a dual position working for CaseCo and Merit Restorations. As the Controller, you will manage the day-to-day accounting operations including overseeing the month end close, preparing financial statements, and working with outside auditors. This is a role for someone to be part of the business, not only a technician. You will work with the part-time CFO to support the accounting and reporting functions.

In this position you will work full-time from our office in Purcellville VA.
CONTROLLER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Leading/project managing technology initiatives
- Budget management/forecasting
- Financial statement production and consolidation reporting
- Risk management and mitigation
- Board reporting, presentation compilation (quarterly), and Board engagement
- Assistance with management of external supporting vendors – exchange of information, management, deliverables
- Hands-on: must be a “roll up your sleeves” type of individual
- Ability to determine accounting support requirements, and come up with best solution to provide financial information to manage the business
- Maintain accurate GL by implementing and enforcing software processes and best practices
- Manages monthly and year-end closing activities, prepare, post and reviews entries, runs reports, and addresses issues related to preliminary and final close
- Systems expertise in Spectrum to assist with consideration and decision on upgrading accounting system, and then implementation as needed
- Maintains the accounting system, including creating and deploying new reports, GL account numbers, and modifying reports
- Reviews bank and other reconciliations completed by Nimbl
- Assist with compliance requirements
- Maintains availability in schedule for ad hoc projects from management
- Oversee preparation and issue of billings and monitors collections
- Oversee accounts payable and verify cash disbursements.

- Support audit working with outside audit firm

- Maintain strong working relationships with banking partners
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must consent to a background and credit check before employment
- BA/BS degree in accounting or equivalent
- CPA preferred
- Knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP
- Construction industry, manufacturing, or related industry experience
- Experience using Sage 300, plus tech savvy to advise in consideration of improvements to existing systems or eventual migration to a new platform
- Understanding of contract management preferred
- Joint venture management experience preferred
- Experience managing all facets of Accounting and Finance operations, including the General Ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billings, collections, and cash management
- Must have strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to concentrate and function in an organized and timely manner
- Ability to work with a team and others in a respectful and effective manner
- 10 years of related experience in accounting is preferred
- Successful customer service results
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 365
- Ability to learn and operate software systems: Spectrum, DASH, Xactimate, Office365, etc.
- Continuously find/implement ways for operations and accounting to automatically communicate.
- Must be an excellent communicator.
- Manage accounting departments.
- Communicate financial information with non-financial individuals (subs, supers, owners, architects).
- Communicate financial results, causes & trends, to owners.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
