Staff Accountant
As the largest privately-owned food service distributor in the Midwest, we are looking to add a Staff Accountant to the team. This position will play a meaningful role in supporting the business by assuring effective end-to-end processes and controls in addition to timely and accurate financials.
This position will primarily focus on monthly close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and performing financial analyses while ensuring internal controls and policies are maintained.
Duties:
- Month end close processing and assisting the Sr. Accountant and CFO with financial statements.
- Assisting, preparing and reviewing monthly journal entries and month-end analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement by automating, refining, and implementing processes and tools.
- Organization of financial documents to proper filing.
- Reconciles processed documents by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Maintain general ledger, accounts payables, accounts receivables, inventory and purchase order modules
- Implementing controls and "checks and balances" to ensure AP, AR departments, EDI and tasks are accurate and processed timely
- Timely and accurate distribution of all Company financial information
- Partner and effectively collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure consideration from a tax accounting perspective from both a GAAP and non-GAAP perspective.
- Conduct technical accounting research and document conclusions. Maintain and prepare adequate process documentation as necessary.
- Participates in or handles special projects as needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, CPA or candidate preferred
- Minimum 1 year of accounting experience
- Advanced computer skills required with an emphasis on strong Excel skills
- Attention to detail is essential
- Strong organizational skills required
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally via phone and email required
