What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Cashman?
This is intended to be a full-time position.
Starting Pay: $25/hr.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate, load, and unload parts and equipment to be hauled.
- Ensure that all loads are properly prepared, loaded and secured before the vehicle proceeds from each stop. Personally check and inspect the load. Perform a thorough check of the truck before and after each stop.
- Properly secure any loose timbers and ramps with chains when in transit. Personally remove and put away chains when unloading. Prepare before and stow away after each trip, the vehicle, trailer, and all auxiliary equipment such as chains, blocks, and gear.
- Comply with all Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC), Department of Transportation (DOT), State and local traffic and highway laws, rules, and regulations. Safely operate all equipment in compliance with all legal weight and load size limits.
- Take pictures of questionable machine damage and report immediately.
- Assist in loading or unloading the trucks. Ensure all loads are properly prepared, loaded and secured to avoid shifting, loosening, or falling while enroute.
- Ensure manifests are accurate and error free along with all items transported are listed on the manifest.
- Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain company equipment by checking fuel, oil, water, tires etc on truck and equipment before starting. All equipment is kept clean and maintained. Report hauling equipment operation trouble to the office.
- Keep driver’s license and required commercial driver's license (CDL) and Hazmat endorsements current. Notify supervisor of any driver license problems within one day.
- Ensure all required paperwork is properly completed within applicable time deadlines.
- Work extra hours and scheduled days off up to the limit permissible by ICC when requested by supervisor.
- Work within and promote corporate values.

- Report any unsafe acts or conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, G.E.D. or trade school or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and communications skills.

- Overnight stays may be required to meet the demands of our clients.
Nevada only: Will require overnight stays utilizing the sleeper in the tractor at various locations throughout the week to meet the scheduling requirements of our clients. This may include multiple overnight stays throughout the week.
Salary Guidelines:
Grade G/H: Class B CDL required. Must be able to operate straight truck
Grade I/J: Class A CDL required. Experience as a freight/heavy haul truck driver. Must be able to operate a 5 axle.
Grade K/L: Class A CDL required. Experience as a heavy haul driver. Must be able to operate a 5 to 8 axle.
Grade M/N: Class A CDL required. Experience as a heavy haul driver. Must be able to operate a 5 to 13 axle.
Driver Mine: Drivers whose primary runs involve delivery to a mine site 75% or more of the time will be eligible for an additional $3.00/hour. Only applicable while driver meets the requirements.
