What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Supervisor position at Cashman?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, organize, and delegate the responsibilities for the successful operation of all the yard operations.
- Supervise the shipping and receiving of equipment through assigned personnel.
- Supervise equipment inventory control and responsible for performing and reconciling weekly inventory audits.
- House number assignments to incoming machines and attachments.
- Assist Sales and Rental Coordinators when necessary for customer satisfaction.
- Supervise staging of new, rental, and used machines for shipping.
- Supervise organization, display, and overall appearance of new, rental, and used equipment yards.
- Assess inventory condition and coordinate cleanup and repairs.
- Manage and organize machine and attachment inventory.
- Select, train, and develop employees consistent with department and company needs.
- Provide regular and timely feedback that recognizes performance, motivates employees, and promotes self-development.
- Maintain accurate machine photo and customer damage records.
- Coordinate all activities with related departments and divisions.
- Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of CAT equipment and components through mechanic experience and/or technical training.
- Certified and able to operate forklift.
- Ability to operate construction machinery.
- Proficient computer technology skills, including ability to utilize company software.
- Achieve company goals of customer satisfaction, market dominance, and profitability through leadership qualities demonstrated, timely employee feedback, and development of staff.
- Achieve high quality service standards and consistent cost controls.
- Effectiely work as a team leader and member, delegating when appropriate, assisting when needed and requesting assistance when needed.
- Assist in achieving budget consistently.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma, G.E.D. or trade school equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in heavy construction equipment service, support or an equivalent work experience, which includes supervisory or management experience.
- Ability to read and understand materials commonly used in the product service and maintenance function (service and parts manuals, technical bulletins, and other related articles).
- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form.

- Must use feet for repetitive movement when operating equipment controls.
