The responsibilities and duties of this position are subject to change at any time.- Identifies portion of charges to be billed to patient’s insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, or other third parties, and those to be charged to patients directly.
- Prepares & forwards accurate billing forms to Medicare, Medicaid, or other third parties & follows up on past due accounts in a timely manner.
- Checks eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurances when needed.
- Receives and answers inquiries from patients, insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other parties regarding charges, their insurance, and/or billing statements.
- Completes department work within prescribed time frame.
- Participates and completes special projects in an identified time frame.
- Strong people skills. Respects and maintains confidentiality of customer and hospital information.
- Meets with patient and/or family in patient’s room if necessary.
- Maintains knowledge of and complies with all hospital, state, and federal policies as identified in CCMH policy and procedure manuals & employee handbook.
- Reports to work on time when scheduled and limits personal phone calls and visiting.
- Promotes teamwork by working well with other departments and co-workers.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
