Position Summary
The Patient Financial Counselor is responsible for providing patients with a positive financial experience by helping patients navigate and understand insurance benefits and potential financial liability. Financial Counselors are the patient’s point of contact for financial assistance questions. They are responsible to make sure the patient understands the costs associated with the health care services they need. They will assist patients with billing questions, payment plan options, and creates estimates. The Patient Financial Advisor will also receive and process accounts receivable payments, manage self pay and collection activities, and prepare daily cash drawer report and balance cash on hand. The Patient Financial Advisor will communicate with patients, payers and other departments as needed.
Position Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred:
- Associates degree with coursework related to business, communication, or education/experience related to customer service.

- Strong ability to work as a team
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Detail oriented
- Computer and Microsoft experience
- Preferred:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare revenue cycle or customer service environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
