Valley View Village is hiring an organized, detail-oriented Full-Time Admissions Director to join our team. The Admissions Director position requires meeting high standards in the areas of communication and record keeping; effectively interacting with staff, resident and resident’s family member; ensuring that intake information is complete prior to admission; and marketing the services available to appropriate sources.
Our meticulously clean building is conveniently located in a park-like setting on Des Moines’ East side, near shopping centers, hospitals, medical providers and I-235. We are proud of our staff to resident ratio that allows us to provide quality care to our residents. As a continuum of care campus, we offer independent living, assisted living, long term care, and skilled nursing care including speech, physical and occupational therapies. This is a Full-Time, benefit eligible position working Monday through Friday.
Admissions Director Responsibilities:
Admissions
- Coordinates new referrals with the assistance of nursing and social services by receiving information relevant to complete admission inquiry. Reviews with nursing to ensure client needs are met.
- Obtains current “primary contacts” file for new admissions.
- Accurately enters admission data into clinical software/admission log.
- Schedules and provides facility tours.
- Performs general office duties, including but not limited to: answering phones; making copies; and preparing packets and mailings.
- Tracks demographics on new admission (where they come from, etc.).
- Attends mandatory departmental meetings, in-services, etc. as scheduled.
Administrative
- Assumes on-call responsibility for the Admission Department as assigned.
- Participates in maintaining written policies and procedures as they relate to the functioning operation of the admission department.
- Works effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure incoming resident’s needs are met (assign room).
- Effectively communicates with hospitals, family members, physicians and clinics to ensure all necessary information is obtained.
- Notifies Health Information Administrative Assistant, Health Information Coordinator (of nursing station resident is being admitted to), Receptionist, Medicare Nurse, Therapies of pending admission, and distributes appropriate paperwork. Fax pre-admission screening referral form to appropriate county (from discharge source).
Marketing
- Maintains positive relationships with discharge planners at area hospitals and packaging promotional materials for referral sources.
- Actively participates in community activities and events as a representative of Cassia, responding timely to inquiries and admissions to the care center.
- Conducts care center tours for prospective residents and/or family members, while staying updated on Medicare, Medical Assistance systems, insurance admission criteria, and payment systems.
- Works towards maintaining occupancy goals for the care center and seeks out new business opportunities and relationship building.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for inquiry calls for care center placement and contributes to fulfilling the Campus Marketing plan as directed by the Campus Director of Marketing, participating in Campus Marketing team meetings as required.
Admissions Director Skills and Requirements:
- 1 – 2 years of long term care experience
- Possesses basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, including excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and problem-solving ability, along with a basic understanding of Medicare/Medicaid/PPS/MDS/Insurance.
- Displays the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with strong attention to detail.
- Capable of accurately obtaining and recording information, and interacts effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate early or late tours and/or admissions, and must be eligible to work in the Federal Health Program.
