Responsibilities

Castalia Systems is seeking a SAFe Product Owner (Cyber) in the Dulles, VA area.

A SAFe Product Owner (Cyber) will support the design, development, and deployment of enterprise collaboration tools for a U.S. Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program that will design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment, including introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats.

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements and develop user stories.
• Lead and collaborate within Agile Scrum teams as an Agile Release Train (ART) lead responsible for the integration and maintenance of advanced, cloud-based (AWS, Azure) cybersecurity software capabilities.
• Lead and facilitate program & team-related Agile events (PI Planning, Release Governance, Stand-Ups, Sprint Planning, etc.) while maintaining all artifacts (Backlogs, Decisions, Priorities, Blockers, etc.).
• Eliminate impediments and actively address issues so that the team can remain focused on achieving the objectives of the Program Increment (PI).
• Escalate as needed when blocking issues are beyond a team’s authority or require support from other teams.
• Foster a collaborative team environment through coaching & leading appropriately.
• Lead and facilitate preparation & readiness for ART events & assisting teams in preparation for ART activities (e.g., PI Planning, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt, etc.).
• Collaborate within Agile Scrum teams as a key contributor responsible for the design, test, and implementation of advanced cybersecurity software capabilities.
• Review high quality technical documentation, including user guides, test plans, and contract deliverable items and supporting product training.
• Development of risk assessments and risk mitigation countermeasures.
• Lead or participate in trade studies to determine improvements to system capabilities.
• Define the vision for the team’s product and create a product road map based on this vision.

Qualifications

Security Clearance Requirement:

Active/current Secret clearance minimum with the ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI is required. Must also be able to obtain a DHS Suitability.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline is required. 10 years of experience (for a total of 18 years) may be substituted for a degree.
• 8 years’ experience of software development experience.
• 6 years’ experience with Agile software development programs.
• Proven leadership skills managing enterprise tools.
• Demonstrated experience with Lean-Agile principles, metrics, and technology and/or experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Demonstrated experience enabling teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver capabilities via effective lean-Agile practices.
• Able to effectively work as a leader, in a group, or as an individual contributor.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment in a leadership role - Ability to create a vision and lead teams on large- and small-scale activities.
• Must be able to work collaboratively across Value Streams.
• Working knowledge of the full Atlassian product suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect.
• Certifications related to Agile development and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Practitioner (SP) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC).
• Knowledge and experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar framework.
• Experience and/or familiarity with DevSecOps processes, Splunk Enterprise Security, Splunk Cloud, and other security tools.
