Join a winning team! Castle Metal’s Hammond, Indiana, warehouse is seeking a full-time Crane Operator, Monday - Thursday from 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
We are seeking candidates with at least 1 (one) year of experience using a stationary or mobile overhead crane to move, lift and position materials for customer orders.
The ideal candidate will use their knowledge of controls to lift and lower loads with precision, and transport heavy material. Additionally, any experience with the set up or operating of heat-treating furnaces is plus, otherwise, training will be provided.
This positon is based out of the warehouse in Hammond, Indiana, and will report to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Pay: $21.92 per hour. The Crane Operator is a valued team member in the production environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Primary Responsibilities:
• Uses the crane for order filling, receiving, and loading. Uses crane lever and controls efficiently.
• Inspects the crane to ensure its safety.
• Attaches bundle tag to material being shipped and stages for shipment.
• Safely adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications.
• Understands their role in the order fulfilment and inventory management process.
• Wears the required safety equipment to perform job duties.
• Performs routine maintenance such as maintaining the crane hoisting mechanism.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience: Type, Skills, and Years:
• At least 1-2 years previous experience with crane operation.
• Basic measurement competency to correctly identify and manipulate material for orders.
• Basic math competency to ensure order accuracy.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a warehouse environment.
• Strong work ethic.
• PC literacy.
Required Education:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Heat treating operation such as adjust furnace temperatures and heat cycle requirements for objects to be heat-treated for orders.
• Experience in a metals service center.
• Certified in assigned equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.)
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
• Stooping, standing, and manual dexterity.
• Heavy lifting (25 lbs ).
• Assigned safety equipment must be worn at all times (hard hat, safety shoes with metatarsal, safety glasses with side shields, gloves, and arm guards).
• Frequent exposure to mechanical moving parts and heat treatment equipment.
