Real Estate Development Controller

Location: Sarasota, FL | Department: Property Accounting | Reports To: Senior Director, Property Accounting

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete accounting process from acquisition to development to sale for a variety of real estate development projects – multi-family residential; retail; medical office buildings and mixed use.

• Preparation of monthly reports for development projects.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly construction draws to submit to lender(s).
• Prepare forecasts and track development costs to ensure adherence to budget.
• Monitor commercial development pro-formas for new and ongoing development projects.
• Coordinate with tax department for implications of potential sales.
• Equity tracking and prepare partner distributions.
• Understanding of partnership waterfalls.
• Prepare annual work papers, detailing account balances in accordance with sound accounting practices.
• Reviewing financials for debt compliance.
• Other job-related duties as assigned or required.

SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Experience using MRI and Argus a plus.
• Relevant work experience at a real estate company or financial institution.
• Comfortable working in Excel and Word.
• Knowledge and understanding of retail leasing & financing.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
