Caterpillar’s E&APSD group is looking for a technical subject matter expert to join us as a Electrification Application and Systems Engineering Specialist focusing on the marine market. This exciting role will lead teams to drive progressive product lines and solutions to help our customers to grow profitably in a more sustainable way. You will have the unique opportunity to work across multiple divisions to help position Caterpillar’s emerging electrification strategy in the marine market by helping define the projects and managing the portfolio of offerings that will help our customers win. This role requires a robust understanding of the services strategy with in-depth knowledge of the multiple industry segments to drive the project portfolio. Position requires excellent human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive issues, persuade others on new technologies, new applications, or potential solutions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Developing, managing and communicating market segment project development portfolio Documenting and communicating market segment application requirements to the product development teams As technical lead, supporting key development projects to demonstrate and or provide ePowertrain solutions. Developing product, internal and external requirements management, and cost-value management Utilizing knowledge and understanding of multiple engineering teams, technologies, components, systems, products, and processes Collaborating with a variety of internal customers (including manufacturing managers, product managers and new product introduction (NPI) managers) to make high level decisions impacting one or more products, processes, or facilities Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology etc) 8 or more years of relevant engineering experience Product knowledge and background in Marine industry Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills. Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well employees in other units, customers, and suppliers. Top Candidates Will Have Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Product knowledge and background in multiple industry segments (Electric Power, Marine, Oil & Gas, Rail, Industrial, Machine) Experience in in technology and product development into production Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems Versed in requirements management Demonstrated ability to work across multiple divisions Work alongside commercial and engineering teams, strong communication, collaboration, negotiation & persuasion will be required & expected.
