The Instrumentation & Electrical Tech II is responsible for adding value to our industrial, petroleum, EPG and rental power sales team’s engine related projects by installing customer specific enhancements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Perform the following tasks with general supervision:
    • Wiring for batteries, alternators, lights and engine control systems, both 12 and 24 volts
    • Assist in the assembly process and operate all assembly tooling
    • Assemble custom harnesses, install sensors, connect gen sets to the load bank and perform functionality tests.
    • Decipher electrical schematics to identify improvement areas.
    • Diagnose and repair equipment failures.
    • Program engine electronic control modules via Cat tooling.
  • Document all repairs, testing and assembly upon their completion.
  • Maintain knowledge of assembly process, instrumentation and electrical components and/or controls.
  • Operate forklifts as required.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years engine experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Electrical and mechanical tooling required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of engine and generator electronic components and controls.
  • Intermediate problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and utilize schematics and technical manuals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Required travel up to 10%.

This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
