JOB PURPOSE: Develops and defines growth strategies for Cat Reman based on the existing and forward-looking markets to support Caterpillar growth commitments. Leads on activities related to acquisitions and venture capital opportunities within Cat Reman including private and public acquisitions, mergers, and joint ventures. This person will also advise on any Enterprise acquisitions and determine whether Cat Reman needs to be evaluated as part of the acquisition process. The incumbent will focus a significant amount of time on developing a thorough understanding of the Reman business and its contribution to growth, understanding the current state of the business and developing growth strategies to achieve Cat Reman’s goals. Incumbent provides leadership, and guidance to the Reman line organizations, the Business Development Manager, Product Manager and VPs throughout the process. Strong communication and business acumen skills are a must as this person will be working across the Enterprise with, Cat Reman leadership team, Corporate Development, Industry Partners, and across the Reman organization. Responsibility for making recommendations to and participating in decision making with the Cat Reman leadership on the strategic direction of the specified growth theme they are leading. Reviews and recommends action plans on significant project requirements and financials with the Reman Leadership team to assess risk and ensure quality performance standards. Executes on the strategic direction and facilitates teams across business units and service providers to define scope, resolve issues and enable success in reaching goals for the Caterpillar Remanufactured Products business. Needs to excel at managing a matrix organization. The incumbent will need to be able to understand and communicate to leadership how the projects they are leading effect to not only Cat Reman, but also the larger Caterpillar Enterprise. This person will also excel in developing and leveraging meaningful business relationships with key decision makers, industry influencers and collaborative business partners across the industry. The position travels 25% of the time. JOB DUTIES: The leader will understand and is current on applying product and industry knowledge to develop strategic planning aligned to the Aftermarket Growth opportunities. Aligning/understanding the voice of customer (VOC) and voice of dealer (VOD). Other key functions include: Leading a portfolio of projects and processes that pertain to positioning Reman for long-term success. Responsible for supply and partnership agreements, venture capital, M&A, and other growth initiatives Structuring and solving business problems, collaborating, and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues. Developing rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations, ensuring strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations. Working closely with cross-functional and segment management teams on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support. Communicating recommendations to senior management, functional, or regional staff and management in a clear, concise and impactful way. Providing continuous coaching and training to strategy teams across different segments. Developing business cases in support of M&A and asset acquisition targets as required. Providing support in establishing and executing a strategic planning process within the business unit Developing formal documentation of Strategy processes, as well as process monitoring and improvement. Incumbent works directly with the Business Development Manager, VPs, Commercial Manager, Product Managers, Corporate Development, and Industry Partners providing industry expertise/strategy with focused improvement on four critical areas: Product, Technologies, Channel and Price. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University or College. 5 years’ experience in areas related to strategy type roles. Experienced leader in leading change and executing on strategic visions for the key projects/business initiatives. Strong organizational and business acumen skills; superior communication skills; ability to manage all aspects of a complex business. Ability to operate in a highly matrixed enterprise and operate through influence. Demonstrated high values and integrity is essential. TOP CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE: Advanced degree. M&A or Venture Capital experience . Strong understanding of our Remanufacturing brand or knowledge of our machines/engines, drivetrain, electrification, and aftermarket services. Leadership experience. The location for this role could be Dallas, TX or Peoria area. Relocation assistance will be provided, if eligible.
