Job Summary: The Senior Business Analyst is a contributor role responsible for developing and hosting cyclical presentations at C-Suite quality, maintaining relationships with external analysts, and developing and monitoring independent performance metrics in the mining and heavy industrial markets relevant to Caterpillar Resource Industries (RI) products & services objectives. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and improving data processes as well as supporting ad-hoc projects. This role directly supports the Mining Intelligence team, RI Strategy team, and ultimately support the RI segment. Position will ideally be based in Tucson, AZ or Peoria, IL with flexible working arrangements available. What you will do: Cyclical reporting – Ability to translate technical analysis into actionable results for non-technical senior decision-makers. Quarterly intelligence presentation, quarterly leadership briefings, additional detail as required. Relationship building – develop relationships with external analysts, be familiar with existing research, and incorporate into reporting. Industry Analysis - Maintains a comprehensive understanding of business landscape in mining, heavy construction, quarry, and aggregates industries sufficient to develop KPIs and understand how they may be applied to drive shareholder value. Data Maintenance – Maintain existing data processes in Excel as well as custom databases. Performs statistical analysis to build business case for changes, enhancements, and to define opportunities. Engages with internal partners to understand business strategy, industry developments, and investigating/communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity. Manages ad-hoc projects and analyses, as needed. Plans, designs, and deploys appropriate reports and tools. Collaborates across enterprise, IT, legal and regulatory, process improvement teams, and others, to develop operational solutions. What you have: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (2-5 years experience) or Master’s Degree (1-3 years experience). Experience in finance, analytics, engineering, economics, or a related field. Able to read and interpret financial reports as well as analyst publications. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-starter, attention to detail, history of balancing multiple projects simultaneously. Top Candidates Have: 2 years in an analyst role with a mining and metals background or 3 years in a similar role. S&P CapIQ, Bloomberg, Haver, EViews, R, Access, PowerBI experience.
