Position Summary Reporting to the VP, Product Development, Consumer Health, the Director, Product Development (PD) is accountable for the successful and timely development of new products associated with the gummy technology. This role will provide development leadership and expertise along the entire product development process. This person will manage a team of formulation scientists in two locations, and work with Project Management, a Senior Scientific Advisor, and customers to ensure right first-time development to enable right-first-time manufacturing. This role has revenue generation goals and is a member of the site leadership team at two manufacturing sites. The Role Has a strong background in dietary supplement product development. Manage site Product Development team including performance management, effectively set expectations, drive performance, and develop staff. Execute and continually improve the site's practice of Catalent’s New Product Introduction Excellence program, including the stage gate process. Guarantee execution of development projects at the sites according to project planning, budget and based upon sound scientific rationale, execution, and documentation. Establish and review project proposals for customers by determining timeframe, funding, limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various stages of the projects. Establish and manage the development revenue forecast and operating budget for the R&D department. Develop leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills of staff and ensure PD team is valued as a key member of new project introductions. Manage quality and productiveness of PD team with appropriate metrics as guidance. Leverage Senior Scientific Advisor to train and mentor scientists to build a strong bench of scientists and to ensure innovative formulation technologies are considered to add value to our customers’ products. Partner with Senior Scientific Advisor to ensure gummy innovation funnel is executed at the sites. Instill and continually foster the Consumer First culture with the PD team and across the sites. The Candidate Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemistry, pharmaceutical or food science discipline. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of product development expreince in dietary supplements in the US. Experience managing a team of scientists and as a contributing member of a Senior Leadership Team. Relevant expereince in dietary supplment development and manufacturing. Sound knowledge of VMS industry. Familiar with cGMP and safe work practices.
