Job Posting for Library Assistant Half-Time-Sherrills Ford at Catawba County Government
Are you looking for a part time job? Does working in an innovative Library System appeal to you? Catawba County Library System is recruiting for a ½ time Library Assistant to provide customer service to library patrons. This position works 20 hours a week and receives prorated (50%) benefits. Work schedule includes night and Saturday rotation, located primarily at the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Branch Library.
- Provides excellent customer service to library patrons
- Provides a full range of circulation desk services, including checking in and out materials, emptying book drop, setting up library card accounts and resolving account issues, locating reading materials, conducting sales of materials and supplies, accepting fines and fees, placing holds, and transferring items
- Assists patrons in using computers, personal technology devices, copiers, scanners, faxes, and the library’s online resources
- Shelves materials as well as performs shelf maintenance
- Assists with preparation and promotion of library events, services, programming, and outreach
- Helps to maintain a welcoming friendly environment in the library
- High school graduation and one year of clerical/public service experience, preferably in a library or related service setting (i.e.: bookstore); OR
- Associates degree in Business Administration; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any field
Additional Information

- Ability to operate various computer programs
- This position is considered light duty, lifting up to 20 pounds on a regular basis
