The Global IT Architect Manager 1 in Logistics Information Services (LIS) will lead a global team of solution architects through design and development of robust IT solutions and processes to support PSLD’s Integrated Logistics and Procurement systems, as well as Legal Trade Center of Excellence systems. This includes leading overall design, deployment and execution of solutions and architecture for 6 major Logistics and Supply Chain business functions including Transportation, Global Operations, Packaging, Trade Operations, Procurement, and Legal Trade Center of Excellence. This role closely collaborates with the business, IT teams, and external software providers to develop a technology roadmap that enables the business strategies. Additionally, will lead design and deployment of solutions supporting PSLD’s Transformation to drive OPACC improvement that focus on digitalization, data analytics, system modernization and rationalization that help enable key business activities and delivers high quality and reliable IT solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a global team responsible for designing, developing, and deploying business and technical solutions to achieve business strategies and mitigate risks
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand business strategies & translate business requirements into solutions that align with strategic and transformation initiatives
  • Develops and maintains long-term strategic IT roadmaps aligned with business strategies
  • Promotes LIS & Enterprise IT guiding principles aligned with the Enterprise Integrated IT strategy
  • Drive incremental benefits through ongoing innovation efforts using emerging technologies
  • Lead & execute transformation projects to generate OPACC savings
  • Partner closely with Enterprise IT, external vendors, suppliers & business teams to ensure business needs are met and all projects meet Quality, Velocity & Cost goals
  • Maintains compliance to internal policies and procedures, including those relating to enterprise architecture methodology, cybersecurity, SOX, and IT General Controls
  • Builds and maintains excellent relationships and is responsible for exceeding business partner expectations through implementation and delivery of IT products and solutions
  • Create & maintain an organizational climate/culture which encourages innovation, LEAN, collaboration, excitement/commitment with a sense of urgency creating OPACC & business success
  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science (IT), or a related discipline
  • 10 (plus) years of progressively complex IT experience generally gained through staff and supervisory assignments
  • Experience working with global business partners on transformation projects
  • Experience with one (1) or more application or infrastructure components
  • Strong business relationship management and customer focus
  • Ability to provide strategic direction and influence, and development of 2–3-year IT roadmaps
  • Intellectual curiosity and emotional intelligence
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally up-to 20% of the time

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science (IT), or a related discipline
  • Ability to challenge existing processes or solutions in pursuit of the best enterprise solution
  • Proven success of leading teams in delivery of creative technology solutions that enable execution of business strategies
  • Ability to operate in a highly versatile role in a dynamic business environment
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong initiative and accountability to drive results
  • Broad background in systems development and/or support of customer applications
  • Experience handling teams in Distributed/Mainframe/Integration/Salesforce
  • Experience working with Software as a Service (Saas) and Platform as a Service (Paas) provides
  • APICS and/or TOGAF certification
