What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Director position at CATG?
TITLE: Information Technology Director
PURPOSE: Responsible for the day to day operations of the CATG network and assisting users with network issues as well as any trouble tickets. The IT Director reports directly to the Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Network:
- Maintains network equipment (switches, routers, other devices)
- Implements network changes and upgrades
- Troubleshoots network connection issues
- Handles tier 3 and network trouble tickets w/ help desk.
Phone/VTC Systems:
- Maintains and updates the phone system
- Controls and maintains video teleconference system (VTC): schedules meetings, trains end users and troubleshoots connectivity issues. Maintains core server equipment and performs updates and backups as required.
Applications:
- Manages the outlook for business portal
- Manages the Electronic Paperless System (EPS)
- Manages the orion monitoring portal
- Manages the MaaS360 Mobile device portal policies.
Server Administration:
- Responsible for keeping the active directory current
- Responsible for keeping the DNS server up to date.
Equipment:
- Conducts cost analysis and recommends equipment purchases
- Manages assets
- Licensing provisioning/procurement
Customer service:
- Responsible for new user setup (active directory, email, phone extension, EPS)
- Answers questions, gives guidance and resolves computer/network issues
- Responsible for trouble ticket management
- Assigns priority
- Conducts follow up
- Ensures timely issue resolution
Agency Relations:
- Handles USAC requests and applications for funding the CATG Internet and Wide Area Network
- Coordinates outside resources for projects and other activities
- Conducts contract review with GCI and Tel Alaska.
Supervisory Duties:
- Oversees server maintenance and management compliance
- Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating department personnel
Village Travel, applicant must be willing to travel to the surrounding tribes to assist with IT work.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and post-secondary education in areas applicable to the position.
- Vendor certifications (Cisco, HP, Juniper, Avaya, etc)
- Ability to work under high stress situations while maintaining professionalism
- Ability to coordinate and identify outside resources for projects
- Experience in electronics
OTHER:
- Under the authority of P.L. 93-638, Indian Preference shall be given to the applicant(s) who meet the minimum qualifications.
- As a Federal contractor, CATG is required to show compliance with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988. CATG has initiated and maintained a Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy that includes pre-employment and random anonymous testing thereafter.
