in the Holy Cross Tradition, is seeking a Science Teacher (preferred Biology). The chosen

JOB SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Science content as well as
experience working with students at the high school level. This position is an integral part of
Cathedral High School’s Science Department and will require the candidate to create a
welcoming and engaging classroom environment for all students. As a science teacher you are
responsible for teaching students hands-on, inquiry/project based lessons to enhance problem
solving and critical thinking skills. You are accountable for preparing engaging sessions making
the students excited to learn about science. To be successful in this role, you should possess a
thorough understanding of various science concepts and theories. Collaborate with the STEM
team and across disciplines. You should promote a positive, purposeful and professional
working atmosphere that encourages cooperation and challenge whilst valuing the contribution
that individuals make to the success of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology
- Valid Indiana Teaching License
- Experience using online resources and other technologies to enhance learning
- Experience within an educational and/or independent school environment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach 5 sections as a full-time teacher.
- Work collaboratively with as part of the department’s PLC.
- Contribute to the larger school community through the support of our Holy Cross Core
- Monitors and evaluates student outcomes
- Demonstrates content knowledge and delivers instructional material that is
comprehensible.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as
fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished
in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee
to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to
sit, stand, walk, and use hands & fingers as well as talk or hear routinely throughout the work
day. Employees must also be able to climb, kneel, balance, stoop, crouch regularly as part of
this job. Employees must occasionally be able to lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds.
