The full time Peer Advocate, reporting to the Program Director in the STR Program, provides outreach, advocacy, mentoring and recovery support services to those seeking or sustaining recovery. The primary responsibility of visiting clients in the community/on-site to provide support and overdose prevention training and offer ongoing support and linkage to care of clients and their families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The full time Peer Advocates will be responsible for the following activities, including but not limited to:

• Using her/his lived experience with recovery to provide support to clients in the STR Program, introduce the program to potential clients and obtain consents for follow up services.
• Conduct overdose prevention education with clients, their families and their social networks including naloxone distribution.
• Provide clients with support and assist with linkage to care and community resources. Accompany clients to appointments as required.
• Provide information on and offer appropriate referral options to harm reduction programs, medication assisted treatment, and other services as requested.
• Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the program requirement and referrals to community services.
• Provide technical assistance and provide training on program implementation, policies and procedures as needed.
• Closely builds relationships and collaborates with community partners on continued integration of the STR Program.
• Maintain detailed records of client contacts and follow-up activities. Collect and report program data to evaluate program performance as required.
• Facilitate groups using evidence-based models (i.e. Seeking Safety, Holistic Health Recovery Program).

Education and/or experience:
A Peer Advocate must possess first-hand lived experience using substances and is eager to draw from their own personal history in order to provide support through risk reduction counseling, naloxone training, and linkage to care. The successful candidate will have familiarity and openness to a range of drug treatment modalities, the principles of harm reduction and have a demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations and have strong communication and organizational skills.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Addiction counseling: 1 year (Required)
• personal Substance Use Disorder Treatment: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• CRPA preferred (Required)

Willingness to travel:

• 25% (Required)
