Job Details
Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting the nurse in providing care to the geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and infant patients during the perioperative phase of their hospitalization.
- Assists the professional staff in the ASU to facilitate surgical cases by maintaining supplies and equipment including carts, scopes and video monitors used by Nurses and Anesthesiologists.
- Coordinates all necessary services for repairs with ANCC
- Assists the nursing personnel with surgical instrumentation and the disinfection and sterilization of equipment and instruments
- Performs surgical case picks for same day and following day cases
- Assists in preparing the surgical patient in the Holding Room and care of the post-operative patient in the PACU.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous hospital experience required.
- Previous OR experience preferred.
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer patients/equipment, stand and walk for extended periods of time, and record and report information.
- Responsible for overseeing the scheduling and daily assignments of the POSA.
- Will participate in performing annual performance appraisals of perioperative assistants and in the education of new perioperative assistants.
- BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:
- American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
- American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
Salary Range
USD $27.00 - USD $31.00 /Hr.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
