Our facilities include a brand-new full-service clinic with digital radiography equipment and a dental/oral surgery suite. Mission statement: “Catnip Acres is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity whose mission is to ameliorate the suffering associated with cat and dog overpopulation in Southwestern PA, specifically Greene County.
Catnip Acres reaches a subset of animals that would otherwise be underserved by providing high volume/high quality/low cost sterilization programs for cats and dogs. Additionally, Catnip Acres delivers high quality/low cost veterinary services for acute and chronic health problems in the cat and dog populations.
Furthermore, through sterilization and vaccination, Catnip Acres increases the quality of life and decreases population, thereby decreasing animal abuse, neglect, disease and overcrowding in shelters.”
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have experience working in veterinary medicine.
- Must be able to reliably commute to our clinic location in Waynesburg, PA.
- *Pennsylvania does not legally require certification from a technical program in order to work as a veterinary technician. Veterinary Technician Certification is recommended but not required to apply. Pay will largely be based on experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help the veterinarian and other staff members care for feline/canine patients.
- Administer vaccines and medications, perform basic surgical prep and monitoring.
- Restrain patients as needed to efficiently administer treatment/ diagnostics.
- Perform basic receptionist duties (use computer software to check in/out clients, file paperwork, basic record-keeping, input information, call back patients and answer clinic phone calls to the best of your ability, keep steady work flow as clients come and go).
- Perform basic sanitary duties (clean up after animals as we go, thorough cleaning after work day ends, clean instruments/ other medical equipment).

LOAN FORGIVENESS
After 120 qualifying payments (this usually takes 10 years) employees in certain public service jobs, including at 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits, may be eligible for loan forgiveness as long as their loans are not in default, and their loans are under a qualifying repayment plan.
