We perform direct digital x-rays, digital ultrasounds, and cardiac services in a wide range of settings.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Participate in Company’s Drug Free Safety Program and Pass Pre-Hire Drug Screening
  • No Criminal History (Fingerprinting)
  • Current OH X-ray License
  • Current ARRT Registry

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Successfully completing an accredited educational program in radiologic technology, attaining appropriate primary certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and possess a valid state radiographer license.

RADIOGRAPHER SCOPE OF PRACTICE

The scope of practice of the portable radiographer includes:

  • Receiving, relaying and documenting verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient’s medical record.
  • Corroborating patient’s clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist and billing staff.
  • Assuming responsibility for patient needs during procedures.
  • Applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
  • Evaluating images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Performing ongoing quality assurance activities.
  • Performing diagnostic radiographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Determining technical exposure factors.
  • Applying the principles of patient safety during all aspects of radiographic procedures.

RADIOGRAPHER PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

The radiographer:

  • Gathers relevant information from the patient, medical record, significant others and health care providers.
  • Reconfirms patient identification and verifies the procedure requested or prescribed.
  • Verifies the patient’s pregnancy status.
  • Reviews previous examinations for comparison.
  • Identifies and removes artifact-producing objects.
  • Employs professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to improve diagnostic quality.
  • Determines the need for and selects shielding and immobilization devices.
  • Determines that all requirements are in place to achieve quality diagnostic procedures.
  • Verifies that exposure indicator data for digital radiographic systems has not been altered or modified and is included in the DICOM header and on images printed to media.
  • Analyzes digital images to determine utilization of appropriate imaging parameters.
  • Provides accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patients and their care providers can understand. Addresses patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure.
  • Provides related patient education.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical, emotional and mental status.
  • Positions patient for anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Employs proper radiation safety practices.
  • Utilizes technical factors according to equipment specifications to meet the ALARA principle.
  • Uses pre-exposure collimation and proper field-of-view selection.
  • Uses appropriate pre-exposure radiopaque markers for anatomical purposes.
  • Selects the best position for the demonstration of anatomy.
  • Evaluates images for positioning to demonstrate the anatomy of interest.
  • Evaluates images for optimal technical exposure factors.
  • Reviews images to determine if additional images will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure.
  • Documents data in the medical record in a timely, accurate and comprehensive manner.
  • Documents exceptions from the established criteria or procedures.
  • Records information used for billing and coding procedures.
  • Archives images or data.
  • Documents procedural timeout.
  • Adheres to standards, policies and established guidelines.
  • Applies professional judgment and discretion while performing the diagnostic study.
  • Anticipates and responds to patient needs.
  • Respects cultural variations.
  • Maintains credentials and certification.
  • Participates in continuing education to maintain and enhance competency and performance.
  • Shares knowledge and expertise with others.

Weekends and Overnight Call may be required. This position is for a Mobile Radiographer.

Position Summary

A Radiologic Technologist, Staff is a Radiologic Technology Professional that is qualified by professional credentialing and academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ionizing radiation and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice includes those procedures, acts and processes and permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience, has demonstrated competency, and has completed the appropriate ARRT certification(s) which is the standard of practice in radiology.

Job Functions

To perform radiographic examinations, electrocardiography (EKG), pacemaker checks and holter monitoring examinations as ordered by attending physician in accordance with established protocol in mobile environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs all requested radiographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician in accordance with established imaging protocols, which include fluoroscopy
  2. Performs electrocardiography (EKG), pacemaker checks and holter monitoring examinations as ordered by the attending physician in accordance with established protocols.
  3. Examinations are performed in a mobile setting, which requires employee to be able to adjust technical factors (such as kVP and mAs) and positioning in order to obtain quality images based on patient’s condition
  4. Prepares requisition and patient history (includes study performed, number of views, physician, insurance info) and contacts referring physicians when required, according to established procedures. Verify script.
  5. Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
  6. Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
  7. Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required.
  8. Assumes responsibility for the safety and ell-being of all patients while the examination is being performed.
  9. Follows the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles for radiation safety.
  10. Adheres to radiation safety requirements by using lead protection and distance from primary source of radiation.
  11. Maintains assigned equipment and vehicles in proper working order.
  12. Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Graduate of a formal Radiologic Technology Program that is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) is required.
  • Active certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in the specialty(ies) is required.
  • Active licensure with individual state Department of Health if required by law.
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate.
