About the Program and Position:
The Policy and Procedure Department collaborates with our other departments to ensure the long-term sustainability of an organizational culture that reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The department identifies potential opportunities and risks within the organization and its environment to protect the organization’s business interests and strategic goals.
Under the supervision of the Director of Policy and Procedure Development, the Policy Writer will compose, maintain and coordinate with programs the development of all policies and procedures of the agency.
How you get to use your skills…
- Write, edit and update all agency policies and procedures, ensuring all required regulations are met and the format follows the Cayuga Centers style guidelines
- Collaborate with program leadership to assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures to meet the needs of the programs while meeting oversight agency requirements.
- Write new procedures in partnership with program leadership
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of agency policy software
- Assist Compliance and Quality team with various projects
- Research trending policy to incorporate with agency policy
- Create written policy and procedure with clarity, conciseness, inclusiveness, style and terminology
- Monitor oversight agencies such as the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities, Office of Children and Family Services, Administration for Children’s Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement, Council on Accreditation, Medicaid and other State and Federal Regulations for necessary revisions to maintain updated policy
- Assist with the COA accreditation process
- Establish a regular and significant presence across Cayuga Centers’ offices, in-person and/or via electronic communications. Hybrid work schedules will be limited. Travel regularly to assigned programs.
Schedule: Exempt
Regular hours entail 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
- Must be flexible to meet program needs
- Travel outside of work hours may be required
Experience and Skills:
- High school Diploma or GED with/or three years professional experience in business, policy
- Writing, and/or policy-related work.
- Understanding of and ability to interpret regulations from government oversight agencies such as the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities, Office of Children and Family Services,Administration for Children’s Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement, Council onAccreditation, and Medicaid for necessary revisions to maintain an updated policy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of business writing processes, tools, and best practices
- Ability to handle confidential material in a responsible manner
- Ability to interpret, design and compose complex written material
- Ability to travel to all agency locations as required
Physical Requirements:
- Computer work requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time.
- Time on your feet for up to several hours a day.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Time driving and/or taking public transportation.
